How to Partitioning Hard Drive in Windows 7 Without Formatting



  1. First, Press “Start” button search “Computer” right click on computer button and press the “Manage” tab.

  2. Display new windows “Computer Management” then click on “Storage” and go to “Disk Management”. Display the all drive on your computer.

  3. Then you select any drive that you want to partition. Just right click on selected drive and open the “Shrink Volume” 

  4. Now open windows “Shrink C: ( D:, E: any drive)” and enter your partition size in front of “Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB:” 

  5. For Example :- Your “Total size before shrink in MB:” = 40 GB, “Size of available in shrink in MB:” = 25 GB and you want new partition size 15 GB so you Enter the size '15000' in front of “Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB:” then Click the “Shrink” button and wait for the process to complete.

  6. The process is completed a windows showing unallocated space, Select this unallocated space and on right clicking on it click on the option “New Simple Volume”.

  7. Then “New Simple Volume” wizard open your screen. First, you format your partition. Then Select 1. File System – NTFS or FAT , 2. Allocation unit size – Default and 3. Volume Lable – your drive name (Pravin) and then click on “Next” and then “Finish”.

  8. Now your New Drive ready to use …............ Enjoy …..... Life is Beautiful
