Reset your password in Ubuntu

Forgot Your Ubuntu Password


  1. First, Start Ubuntu and gurb loading than press "Esc" button


  1. Than select the Ubuntu Recovery Mode and press Enter button


  1. Display the Recovery Menu ( following image ) and select Root - Drop to root shell prompt and press Enter button




  1. Open the Root Command Prompt. Type the Following Command :-

First Command


root@pravin:# ls /home

pravin


Second Command


root@pravin:# passwd username


e. g. - ( passwd pravin )


and Type your New Password.


Third Command


root@pravin:# exit


Press Enter

  1. Returned to Recovery Menu and select the resume normal boot Press Enter


  1. Enjoy the New Password and Ubuntu

Install Open Office 3.0 on Ubuntu 9.04 (Command Line)

1) First Remove the old Open Office installed the ubuntu and Downloading Open Office 3.0 software tar.gz file and save the desktop.
Download the file from OpenOffice.org
"OOo_3.0.0_LinuxIntel_install_english-US_deb.tar.gz"

2) Open the Terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal).

3) First Command -:- cd /home/pravin/Desktop/ press enter

4) Now you need to run this command -:- tar xvfz OOo_3.0.0_LinuxIntel_install_english-US_deb.tar.gz and extract to the file on desktop.

5) That will create a number of folders. Now move into those folders -:- cd OOO300_m9_native_packed-1_en-US.9358/DEBS

6) Next command (Install Open Office) -:- sudo dpkg -i *.deb

7) Last Command -:-
cd desktop-integration/
sudo dpkg -i openoffice.org3.0-debian-menus_3.0-9354_all.deb



Installed the Open Office 3.0.......................

Install Apache2, Mysql-Server, PHP5, Phpmyadmin on ubuntu 9.04

1) First start the Applications > Accessories > Terminal
2) First Apache 2 Install your Computer/Laptop
Type Command -:-
sudo apt-get install apache2
Press Enter
And start the apache2 server in command line -:-
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 start
Press Enter(apache2 server is start)
3) Next command -:-
sudo apt-get install php5
press enter and after installtion is complete restart the apache2 server.
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 start
and test the php5. Type the following command in your Terminal
"sudo gedit /var/www/phpinfo.php" open the gedit text editor which you will type in



save and close the file and open the firefox browser.
type the address bar http://localhost/phpinfo.php your PHP installation listed on the page.

4) Install Mysql Server -:-
sudo apt-get install mysql-server
As MySQL is installing, it will ask you to configure your root password. Type your root
password and press OK button.
and start the mysql server "sudo /etc/init.d/mysql start"
5) Start the last process Install Phpmyadmin
sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin
Now open up http://localhost/phpmyadmin your web browser.

Step by step Install Ubuntu 9.04

Installing Ubuntu 9.04
Step-by-step installation guide


1) First, When you start your computer, check the boot-screen for setup key ( F2 or Delete ) and F2 key press.


2) Choose the BOOT option and choose Boot Device Priority and choose first boot device to CDROM and second boot device to HARD DRIVE You can press F10 to save settings.

3) Insert the ubuntu cd and restart the computer.

4) First the language screen. Select the language “English” and press enter button.

5) Select the second option "Install Ubuntu," and press the “Enter” key... and wait for the loading system.

6) You will see the welcome screen. Select the native language (English) for the instillation process and click the forward button.

7) Next, select your time zone your map, or by region and city and click forward.

8) Next Keyboard layout screen. the default automatic selection should work for most of you. Click the “Forward” button.

9) Next option for hard disk partition. You have four option here:
A) Install them side by side, choosing between them each startup
B) Use the entire disk
C) Use the largest counties free space
D) Specify partition manually (advance)

10) You have installed already operating system (e.g. Windows XP) and you want a dual boot system, select the fourth (D) option: “specify partition manually” and click forward button.

11) Then next steps, select the free space drive(20 GB) and create ubuntu partition:
A) First delete the partition
B) Then free drive select and new button click 2 GB “swap area” partition (e. g. your RAM 1 GB = swap area 2 GB)
C) Next 18 GB free drive select and new button click and full partition “Mount point ( / )”
D) Select the partition and click forward button.

12) Next you need to create User name, password and computer name you can also choose if you want to login automatically or not.

13) Ready to install screen your computer and click the “Install” button

14) The ubutnu 9.04 operating system will be installed…….

15) After 8 to 15 minutes, a pop-up window will appear, notifying you that the installation is complete, and you'll need to restart the computer in order to use the newly installed Ubuntu operating system. Click the “Restart Now” button...

16) The CD will be ejected; remove it and press the “Enter” key to reboot...

17) The computer will be restarted and, in a few seconds, you will see the Ubuntu login screen. Input your username and password...

1) First Computer start

2) Insert the CD ( Windows XP Home Edition ) to CD-ROM and than first boot device CD-ROM select and Enter press.

3) Than three option to your computer...
a) To set up Windows XP now, press Enter
b) When Windows Repair, press R
c) Quit setup to Windows XP, press F3
and select the first option "To set up Windows XP now, press Enter

4) Windows XP Licensing Agreement -
F8 - I agree
Esc - I do not agree
Page down - Next page
Than select the F8 ( I agree )

5) Windows XP Home Edition setup-
Create a partition for 40 GB HDD
If you have create partition they you have to press - c
(20 GB C drive and 20 GB D drive)
and press Enter

6) Windows XP Home Edition
a) Continue to press C
b) different - Esc
and select the first option and press C

7) Chose the File type -
Select the NTFS File system and Enter press - continue

8) To Format the Drive ( C or D ) for press F
This start setup C or D Formatting.

9) While setup copies file to the windows installation folders in Automatic.

10) Than Automatic restarting your computer and installing Windows.

11) Regional and Language option dialog box,
Click the Customize button and select the "India" - Apply - ok button press and click next

12) Personalize your system - option
Computer name - Pravin Patil
Organization - ABC
and Click Next

13) Product key dialog box
See type the product key on the wrapper and click Next

14) This computer name type ( pravin ) and click Next

15) Open the date and time dialog box
Than Select the Date, Time and Time Zone ( GMT+03.30 Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi ) Select and Next

16) Than select Automatic Install Windows XP Home Edition Setup

17) Open this Networking system dialog box
There are two options you’re Computer.
1) Typical Setting
2) Custom Setting
Select the second option “Custom Setting” and click next

18) For device - Realteck dialog box
and Display this four option your computer
1) Client Microsoft Network
2) File a Printer Sharing for Microsoft Network
3) QOS Packet Scheduler
4) Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Select the fourth option and check the Properties and select the
a) Obtains an IP address automatically
b) Obtains DNS Server IP address automatically
Click the OK and Next

19) Than Automatic to Windows XP Home Edition Setup

20) Than automatically to restarting your computer.

21) Display Setting dialog box -
Windows will automatically adjust your screen resolution
Than click the OK button.

22) For again this massage to your Computer ( Monitor settings dialog box )
click the OK button

23) Than windows XP setup will complete your Computer

24) Than Welcome to Microsoft windows to Display your computer and click next

25) There are two options to your computer
1) Help protect my PC by Turing on Automatic Updates now
2) Not right now
Second option you will choose and click next

26) Will this computer will connect to the Internet through a network.
Display the two options you’re PC
1) Yes, this computer will connect through a local area network or home network
2) No, this computer will connect through directly to the Internet
Select the second option and click next button

27) "Ready to activate windows"
There are a two option
1) Yes, Activate windows over the Internet now
2) No, remind me every few days
Than second option we selected and click next

28) User name type and clicks next and Finish

29) Than Welcome Screen to Windows XP Home Edition.
